Play it on the morning of your birthday, or in a quiet moment during the day. It takes two or three minutes. Afterwards, write down one thing you’re proud of from the past year and one thing you’re looking forward to in the next.

01It’s my birthday, and I’m here for another year. That alone is a gift.
02Looking back, I lived through a lot this year, and I learned from it.
03Messages and calls come from people who remember me today. Each one makes me glad.
04My body carried me through every day of another year.
05Getting older brings more stories and more experience. I’m happy to be gathering them.
06One thing from this year makes me proud, however small.
07Life didn’t follow my timeline, and that’s fine. It moves at its own pace.
08I celebrate myself today, no reason needed.
09I look ahead with curiosity at the new places and people this year may bring.
10Another year older, a little wiser, and glad to be here. Happy birthday to me.

Why it’s written this way
Birthdays can bring mixed feelings: happiness, but also counting the years and measuring yourself against where you thought you’d be. This loop leans into the gratitude without ignoring the rest. It starts with the simplest truth of the day: you’re here for another year.
The early notes look back at what you lived through and handled, then at the people who remember you, and at the body that carried you through it all. The note about getting older reframes age as experience and stories rather than loss.
The middle notes take on the harder feelings. You’re allowed to be proud of something small, and you don’t have to be where you planned to be by now. Then the loop gives you permission to celebrate yourself and to look ahead with curiosity. It ends with a playful happy birthday to me, a line that sounds good on repeat.
